An Invoice Simple alternative that does not count your invoices

Invoice Simple is a polished, extremely popular invoicing app, and its mobile app is better than most things in this category. The thing to understand before you subscribe is how it is priced: the plans are tiered by how many invoices you are allowed to send each month. If that number is the thing that bothers you, this page is for you.

What Invoice Simple costs

Invoice Simple prices by volume: Essentials at $6.99/month allows up to 3 invoices a month, Plus at $14.99 allows up to 10, and Premium at $21.99 is unlimited. Annual billing is advertised as two months free, and there is a 14-day free trial rather than a permanent free tier.

Checked on Oct 3, 2026 against Invoice Simple's own pricing page. Prices change — if this is out of date, theirs is the number that counts, not ours.

What Invoice Simple does better

Taking this first, because it is the part a comparison page usually hides.

  • The mobile app, which is genuinely well built and is what most of its users are paying for.
  • Taking card payments and sending payment reminders, neither of which BidPaper does.
  • Read receipts, so you know the customer opened the invoice.
  • Being an established product with a long support history, where BidPaper is new.

Where BidPaper is the better pick

  • Never counting documents. There is no tier where your fourth invoice of the month costs more than your third.
  • Costing nothing to use, with no trial clock running.
  • Keeping documents on your device rather than on a server.

So which one

Use Invoice Simple

Pick Invoice Simple if you want a first-class phone app and in-app card payments, and you send few enough invoices that the entry tier covers you — or enough that Premium is obviously worth $21.99.

Use BidPaper

Pick BidPaper if being metered is the thing you object to. The free tier has no document cap, and it never will: the plan is to charge for features, not for counting.

Switching questions

Does BidPaper really not limit how many invoices I send?
Correct, and it is the deliberate difference. There is no monthly count, no soft cap and no upgrade prompt at the fourth invoice. The planned paid tier charges for features — your logo on the PDF, saved price books, multi-option estimates — not for volume. Metering documents is the one thing this product has decided never to do.
Can I move my Invoice Simple history across?
No, there is no import. Your old invoices stay in Invoice Simple, and you should download the ones you need as PDFs before your subscription lapses, since access goes with it. Most people switch by starting the next invoice here and leaving the history where it is.
Is there a mobile app?
No. BidPaper runs in the phone browser, which works, but Invoice Simple's native app is better on a phone and this page is not going to pretend otherwise. If you write most of your invoices standing in someone's driveway, that difference is worth more than the price.
