What a Concrete invoice needs on it
A concrete invoice should record the mix delivered and the actual yardage, ideally against the batch ticket. It settles any question about what was poured, and on structural work it is the record an engineer or inspector will ask for.
- Pour date and ambient conditions, which is what any later cracking question comes back to
- Control joints as actually cut, so later cracking can be read against them
- Finish applied and any sealer, with the cure time the customer should respect
- Over-excavation or base work beyond what was quoted, itemised
- Deposit credited, balance due, and your payment terms
And what every invoice needs
Send it the day the work is finished. Invoices sent within 24 hours get paid materially faster than ones that go out at the end of the month.
- A due date, not just terms — "Net 14" means less to a homeowner than a date
- Any deposit already paid, credited on the page so the balance is unarguable
- Payment instructions the customer can act on without calling you
- The estimate number it came from, so the customer can reconcile the two

- What should a concrete invoice record about the pour?
- The mix delivered and the actual yardage, ideally against the batch ticket. It settles any question about what was poured, and on structural work it is the record an engineer or inspector will ask for — sometimes years later, when nobody remembers the job but the paperwork survives.
- How do I invoice over-excavation that was not in the quote?
- Itemise the depth, the volume and the rate. Subgrade work is the most common concrete overage, and an invoice showing "additional excavation 14 cu yd at $38" reads as a measured account. The same money inside a revised total reads as a price rise, whatever the explanation beside it.
- Should the invoice mention cure time?
- A line is worth it. The customer wants to park on it and the slab is not ready, and a note on the invoice — no vehicle traffic for seven days, full cure at 28 — is the reminder that survives after the conversation on site is forgotten. It also protects you against damage that is not your workmanship.
